For me WingTsun is an attitude towards life. You live and interpret the martial art every day anew and thereby always discover new facets.

Why did you start with WingTsun?

My main motivations were once my father and grandfather, who were not convinced of the effectiveness of Asian martial arts and I wanted to teach them better. And like many at that time: Bruce Lee. This spirit inspired me at that time and finally moved me to WingTsun.
 At that time – 1989 – I was primarily interested in a direct martial art, with which one could defend oneself directly with few movements. The special thing about this martial art for me were the short, explosive movements as well as the soft yielding. I liked this mixture very much.

Why are you still doing WingTsun?

I do WingTsun because it is a holistic and healthy martial arts system and because it has become my calling. It gives me the opportunity to learn and teach a multi-faceted martial art that combines aspects such as combat, strategy and philosophy.

What was your standout WT experience?

As special experiences I remember the appointment to the 5th master degree and the preparations and stage show at the International Course 2016, where we had the honor to help shape the 40-year event and make it special.

What changed for you when you received the 1st HG or 5th MG?

The 1st HG is for me the first important stage of a WT practitioner — so technical, powerful and often still wild and uncontrolled in the implementation. With the master it is the beginning of a new understanding; one brings everything more and more into harmony, internalizes the principles and the basic concept and begins to BE WingTsun!
