Kids-WingTsun Overview
Since 2005, the EWTO has provided WingTsun lessons tailored for children, a programme developed by WingTsun Master Peter Thietje in 1996. He has since taught this programme to various children’s groups at his EWTO school. The technical foundation of the curriculum derives from WingTsun, introduced in Europe by Prof. Dr. Keith Kernspecht, the founder and director of EWTO. This approach includes teaching de-escalation techniques alongside traditional martial arts, delivered in a manner that is age-appropriate and engaging for our young learners.
Who Is Kids-WingTsun Right for?
Kids-WingTsun is suitable for all children aged 6 to 12. It promotes self-confidence and empowers self-assertion, making it particularly useful for children who frequently encounter threatening situations or are easily influenced into roles of victimhood or aggression. Given that the content and values conveyed can also positively impact school performance and social skills, it serves as an ideal form of support within the context of child and adolescent development.

Group sizes typically range between 10 and 15, comprising both boys and girls.
In most EWTO schools offering Kids-WingTsun, immediate attention is given to children’s current issues, with suitable solutions discussed during training sessions.
Martial arts styles like Judo and Karate have rules that enable sporting competition. However, for effective self-defence, children mustn’t have to engage with rules of fairness or physical confrontation. That is why our Kids-WingTsun course focuses on child-friendly solutions for various conflict situations. This includes strategies for avoiding conflict, a range of self-defence techniques, and smart behaviour following confrontations. In summary, we train children for everyday life, not for competitions.
