WingTsun has become a life motto and attitude for me over the years.

Why did you start with WingTsun?

When I wanted to start with martial arts at that time, Judo, Karate, Aikido and many other martial arts were already widespread. But then I heard about a KungFu style in Kiel, which Bruce Lee also did, and I became curious. The local School Owner at that time was Dr. Horst Zinke. He then convinced me completely of this ingenious martial art. It was just all a little different and mysterious, which I liked very much.

Why are you still doing WingTsun?

On the one hand, because I could fulfill my biggest wish and make my hobby my profession. On the other hand, because I still have a lot of fun teaching and want to convince as many people as possible of the effectiveness and fun of WT. In addition, I have never been bored with teaching, not least because of the endless research of my SiFus Grandmaster Kernspecht. Now after 35 years of EWTO affiliation, together with many other WT colleagues, I am even still lucky enough to learn Inner WT from GM Kernspecht. All this keeps WingTsun interesting and motivates again and again to stay on the ball.

What was your standout WT experience?

Of course, it was all honors and graduations. But I always experience through GM Kernspecht outstanding experiences in the many small groups.

What changed for you when you received the 1st HG or the 5th HG?

Of course, there are worlds between the graduations, but I think, as soon as someone is asked by his SiFu to take an exam and you are at peace with yourself, you can be proud of yourself after each passed exam. For sure, the first HG exam was already something special, because at that time there were not quite as many higher degrees as today.
