Motto:

WingTsun means for me permanent further development, not only in fighting or physically, but also in the areas of personality and in finding my inner balance.

Why did you start with WingTsun?

The reason why I started with WingTsun was that even after many years of martial arts (Ju-Jutsu, TaeKwonDo and many more) I had not found the effectiveness I was looking for. Whenever things got tough, I quickly realized that many training contents did not work in reality and I had to solve situations differently. The “free” training with friends in the basement on weekends brought much better results in terms of effectiveness. But I always remained on the search for the optimal martial art for me and found it in WingTsun 1990. Many teachers accompanied and taught me on my way until today – I am very grateful to each of them for the insights I received through their views.

Why are you still doing WingTsun?

I still practice WingTsun because it never gets boring and you can always open up new areas of our martial art. Above all, however, it is the challenge of teaching and the adaptation of the teaching content to the most diverse questions of our students, which fascinates me again and again and never bores me.

What was your standout WT experience?

The most important milestones for me were certainly the awarding of the 1st TG/HG in 1999, my appointment as Sifu by GM Leung Ting as well as the appointment as Master in 2011. But also the appointment as Leadership Lecturer was a personal highlight for me, because it is incredibly much fun to pass on the collected experience and our association knowledge to the young colleagues and school leaders.

What changed for you when you received the 1st HG or 5th MG?

Originally I thought with the 1st HG that with the 5th MG everything is mediated. But now, as a master, I realize that it’s just getting started.

For the EWTO and my colleagues I wish that our cohesion, especially in the area of the leadership program, continues to grow, that we can continue to learn from our grandmasters for many years to come and that our competencies as WingTsun instructors remain at the highest level through further training and regular quality controls.
