Why did you start with WingTsun?

I started WingTsun to be able to defend myself. After a few years of Judo and JuJutsu, I had the impression that I was only getting better by degrees. Regular meetings with my teacher (2nd DAN Ju-Jutsu) for the purpose of sparring showed me that there was no class difference anymore between a black belt and me (blue belt at that time). Some real experiences made me doubt the effectiveness of the techniques. Then I came into contact with WingTsun and immediately learned that one could learn to fight much more effectively. Logical conclusion for me was then: I want to learn WingTsun.

Why are you still doing WingTsun?

Because it has become my profession and it allows me to constantly develop. Where else can you keep getting better with age?

What was your standout WT experience?

There are some experiences that come to my mind: Being asked by people about my inner peace shows me that WT is more than just self-defense and also has an effect on the personality.
 In the last years I was able to solve a few real threatening situations – without having to use violence.
 Last but not least, the performance at the anniversary celebration this year in Hockenheim on the Plum Blossom Stakes in front of a large audience was a real highlight for me.

What changed for you when you received the 1st HG or 5th MG?

With the 1st HG an important intermediate goal was reached for me – and at the same time I understood, this would be only the beginning of a long way for me.
With the 5th MG I had seen the entire weaponless system and understood that the true WingTsun is not to be sought in the techniques. They are only to be aids on the way. Once again I had completed a section and realized: My way in WingTsun is far from being at the end.
