What does WingTsun mean to you?

To meet life and its encounters at any time with ease and effortless composure.

Why did you start WingTsun?

My motivation to start WingTsun came from the film “Enter the Dragon” with Bruce Lee. Fascinated by his martial art, I wanted to find out what he had trained, and so my path led me to WingTsun in the EWTO in 1981.

What was your most outstanding WT experience?

Here are the most important WT experiences summarized chronologically:

In 1989 I had the opportunity to demonstrate WingTsun together with my SiHing Emin at the Budo Gala Essen and at the invitation of Ed Parker at the Long Beach Arena.

Linda Lee and her daughter Shannon Lee as well as Jean-Claude van Damme were among the guests of honor at this event.

It was at this venue that Bruce Lee had established Kung Fu in the USA with his demonstration.

Ed Parker, bodyguard and trainer of Elvis Presley, had already given the young Bruce Lee the opportunity 25 years earlier to present his martial art at the Long Beach Arena in Los Angeles.

Since 1989 a member of the EWTO’s demonstration and personal protection team, including personal protection at the Budo Galas in Dortmund in 1992 for Chuck Norris and in 1994 for Jean-Claude van Damme. Also trainer in the EWTO training team for international special units of the police in Göppingen as well as for national special units in Kassel and Eutin, with a focus on unarmed self-defense and professional intervention techniques.

Multi-year personal assistant to my SiFu Grandmaster K.R. Kernspecht at examination and advanced training seminars.

The personal appointment to Master in 2001 at a seminar in Wiesenbach by my SiFu Grandmaster K.R. Kernspecht and my SiGung Grandmaster Leung Ting.

What changed for you when you received the 1st HG or the 5th MG?

The 1st HG (in 1988 still TG) was a major milestone for me.
Pride and joy were mixed with the realization that the real work toward mastery was now beginning.
The 5th MG (in 2001 still PG) brought pride again, but also responsibility — not only for myself, but also for the people I am privileged to accompany on their journey.
